Dr. Michael R. Sorrell, MD, FAAN, FACS

Michael R. Sorrell, MD

Michael R. Sorrell, MD is a neurologist with a special interest in headache, myofascial (muscle) pain, and unexplained causes of numbness and pain. In over 45 years of clinical practice, he has investigated and treated the full range of neurologic illnesses of adults, including seizure disorders, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Huntington’s disease, myasthenia gravis, and peripheral neuropathies. He is starting an investigation into the cause of migraine and other headache in adolescents.

Since 1990, he has used botulinum toxin A (Botox) for the treatment of various dystonias, spasticity, and headaches. He has board certification in Neurology and in Headache Medicine and is a fellow of both the American Academy of Neurology and the American Headache Society. He has been an author, reviewer, and editor of medical articles on headache and myofascial pain. He is a former president of the Massachusetts Neurologic Association.

Consultation appointments with Dr. Sorrell can be made by referral from the patient’s physicians. After each appointment, Dr. Sorrell will communicate with the referring physician. Queries for prescription and other neurological questions will be answered by Dr. Sorrell or by his staff during his office hours. There is no coverage for nights, weekends, or holidays or for when he is lecturing or attending medical conferences. During those times, patients may contact the referring practice, which will have the notes from Dr. Sorrell’s office appointments.
